Chemical Free Essentials – Nails

manicure

Nail varnishes are filled with very harsh unwanted chemicals, all of which are absorbed into your nails when you’re wearing them.

But the idea of having colour free nails for the rest of my life was too dull for words.

So I did a little digging and found some brands that don’t use harsh chemicals but still produce beautiful nail polishes and other lotions and potions to keep your nails in mint condition.

Butter London

Butter LONDON is a 3 Free company. Their products don’t contain any Formaldehyde, Toluene, DBP or parabens and never have.

Some of my favourite colours from Butter include Hen Party, Pink Ribbon (both very natural) and Chimney Sweep which is just like Chanel’s Black Pearl but without the nasty chemicals!

Whether you attempt to apply them yourself or take them to your regular manicurist, they’re certainly better than using the traditional chemical heavy polishes.

IMG_2455I’m also a fan of Butter’s Melt AwayCuticle Eliminator which really works. You simply put a little on your cuticles and it melts them away, reducing the need for excessive cutting!

I use their Horse Power Nail Fertiliser everyday. Horsetail is a herb packed with nutrients and silica which should help your nails grow stronger. Aside from strengthening your nails it also looks lovely, neat and clean used on its own as a clear polish and works as a base AND top coat. Talk about multipurpose!

Handbag Holiday Cuticle Oil by Butter is another favourite of mine. Made of natural oils and vitamins, it has no mineral oil in it and helps to nourish and soften your cuticles. It also has a delicious coconut pineapple scent.

IMG_2452Everyone needs a decent nail polish remover and Butter does a great one called Powder Room which has a Baby Powder Scent. The scent is lovely and not strong or sickly like most nail polish removers. It’s acetone free and works like a dream!

You can have a look at all the lovely chemical free products Butter has to offer here.

In the UK you can buy their products from Amazon.

My sister also recently gave me a Nailgirls polish which is 4 Free, meaning it’s free from toluene, formaldehyde, DBP (phthalates) and camphor. Their products are not tested on animals, vegan friendly and the packaging is recyclable.

They also have a spa in Islington, London where you can go and try out their products with a professional!

You can check out their website here and buy their polishes here.
