Gluten Free Goodies

It’s not always easy to find gluten free goodies. But I think there are many more options available now than there ever have been before – which is great news for those of us who can’t eat wheat or gluten.

I haven’t eaten wheat flour for 6 years and had more of less become used to always being the person who couldn’t eat the birthday cake at a party or have dessert in a restaurant.

So whenever I found a place that had gluten or wheat free desserts, cakes or pastries I would always buy them. Without really even considering if I wanted them. If they were wheat free they were purchased. Immediately.

But more recently I’ve found myself picking up cupcakes and other wheat free treats all over the place. I’ve literally got more cakes and slices than I know what to do with. Which is a very different state of affairs to 6 years ago.

Flourless Chocolate Cupcakes by Lola’s Cupcakes

Back in the day if I fancied some cake I had to make one for myself – but now I can get professionally made ones really quite easily as well!

Here are a few of the delicious wheat and gluten free goodies I’ve managed to find in London. Continue reading

I’m Lusting After… A Céline Pochette

IMG_2498

I first saw this pouch on a very stylish friend of mine. After she bought it I never saw her carrying anything else.

It’s not at all the sort of thing I would normally go for, it just seemed really small and I couldn’t believe she could fit everything she needed in it, but she insisted she could.

After a while I started to think it was rather beautiful – very understated, minimalist and elegant. Continue reading

I’m Lusting After… The Loewe Amazona

AMAZONA BAG BLACK made from suede/classic calf- £ 1295

Loewe Amazona in Black made from suede/classic calf – £1295

If you’re thinking of investing in a luxury leather handbag and you’re not sure which one to go for, you really can’t go wrong with the Loewe Amazona.

Named after the strong woman it was designed for, the Amazona epitomises the new found liberty of the Spanish female in post Franco Spain. This bag is a symbol of equality and independence and should really be bought by a woman, for herself.

Dropping a grand or in some cases nearer two or even three for a handbag (ahem, thank you Chanel) is a serious business. You need to make sure that what you buy is fantastic quality. That it’s classic, elegant and will never go out of fashion. Ever.

Your choice of bag has to be worth the dough you’re handing over for it and I think this bag really is.

Sumptuous Scarves

It’s felt like October in London for about 6 months now. Spring just won’t come.

So it’s lucky I’m a big fan of scarves. I have hundreds of them. Well not hundreds, but let’s just say they take up a fairly significant amount of space in my wardrobe. This is no accident. It’s because scarves are magic – they can make or break an otherwise dull or beautiful outfit.

Here are a few of my favourites.

Chemical Free Essentials – Nails

manicure

Nail varnishes are filled with very harsh unwanted chemicals, all of which are absorbed into your nails when you’re wearing them.

But the idea of having colour free nails for the rest of my life was too dull for words.

So I did a little digging and found some brands that don’t use harsh chemicals but still produce beautiful nail polishes and other lotions and potions to keep your nails in mint condition.

Peanut Butter and Banana Smoothie Recipe

IMG_2236

This is one of my favourite easy afternoon pick me ups.

It’s healthy but also yummy and feels just a teensy bit decadent.

To serve one simply throw a banana, 2 tablespoons of organic smooth peanut butter and about 3/4 of a cup of milk into the blender.

Depending on how runny you like it you may prefer 1/2 a cup or a whole cup of milk so play it by ear a little and see what you like.

I use organic soya milk which even my boyfriend doesn’t mind (as long as it’s in the smoothie).

You can add some honey as well if you like but I find it’s sweet enough with just the banana, particularly if you use quite a ripe one.

Happy blending!
